It has been more than a week, and actor Anuj Sachdeva has not been able to get a sound sleep. The reason is a recent attack on him over a parking issue in his society, where he and his dog were allegedly assaulted by a man in his residential complex. Sharing his ordeal, the actor says, “It has been almost 12 days since I was attacked by this man in my society, and I am shocked to the core that no action has been taken by the police despite all the video footage and evidence. What is even more shocking is that when I went to register an FIR at the police station, my complaint was recorded in Marathi, which I do not understand. My words were twisted and incorrect sections were applied, making the case favourable to the culprit. This has left me aghast.”

Anuj claims that he was assaulted and beaten with a rod by a man from Haryana. The attacker also allegedly tried to hit his dog and accused the animal of biting him. “My family is worried about me and my dog. My dog charged at him only after this man hit me, which is very normal for any dog. Dogs are protective of their owners and can sense danger. I’m shocked that people have started taking revenge on these poor creatures after the Supreme Court ruling regarding dogs,” he adds.
Anuj, who originally hails from Delhi, has been living in Mumbai for a long time and has always considered the city one of the safest. However, the recent incident has changed his perception. He says, “I have been living in Mumbai for many years and have always had great respect for the city and the Mumbai Police. In fact, I felt proud to live in a city like Mumbai, which is considered one of the safest cities in India. But this incident has completely changed my perspective. If someone like me has to face so much difficulty in getting an FIR registered, I can only imagine what a layman goes through. Even the society members have not supported me, which is quite sad.”
Despite his repeated visits to the police station, he claims that no action has been taken, leaving him deeply disappointed. “No action has been taken against the man, and he is roaming freely. I could have retaliated in the same manner, but I am a responsible citizen and want to follow the legal route. Unfortunately, the system has disappointed me to a great extent.”
